Position Summary:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations within the investment casting production environment to ensure safety, quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery of products. This role leads and supports production team members while coordinating workflow, monitoring performance, and maintaining compliance with company policies, quality standards, and operational procedures.
The Production Supervisor ensures that casting processes-including wax injection, shell building, melting, pouring, knockout, and finishing-are executed efficiently and meet established quality requirements. This position works closely with quality, engineering, and maintenance teams to resolve production issues, improve processes, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Additionally, the Production Supervisor is responsible for employee leadership activities such as scheduling, training, performance management, and fostering a safe and productive work environment. The role requires strong problem-solving skills, effective communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Production Management
- Supervise and coordinate daily production activities to meet production schedules and delivery commitments.
- Monitor workflow, equipment utilization, and staffing levels to ensure efficient operations.
- Identify and address production bottlenecks or process inefficiencies.
Team Leadership
- Lead, motivate, and support production employees to achieve operational goals.
- Provide training and coaching to employees on processes, safety practices, and quality standards.
- Conduct employee performance evaluations and provide feedback.
- Manage employee scheduling, attendance, and shift coverage.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure products meet customer specifications and company quality standards.
- Work with the Quality team to investigate and resolve defects or nonconformances.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives.
Safety and Compliance
- Enforce company safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety programs.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to improve equipment and process performance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, and quality departments to resolve operational issues.
- Communicate production status, delays, and challenges to management.
- Support new product introductions and process improvements.
