Senior Business Analyst

Location: San Ramon, CA (Hybrid – Primarily Remote)

Work Locations: San Ramon/Dublin, CA

Duration: 12 Months

Rate: Up to $80/hr on W2

Note: Local Bay Area candidates only. The role is primarily remote with occasional onsite collaboration sessions (1–2 days as needed).

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a highly analytical and business-focused Senior Business Analyst to support strategic and operational initiatives within Electric Operations. This role will partner with cross-functional stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze complex datasets, improve business processes, and develop executive-level reporting and presentations that drive informed decision-making.

The ideal candidate possesses strong business analysis, data analytics, stakeholder management, and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to translate complex operational and technical information into actionable business insights.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering

  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand operational processes, identify business needs, and document requirements.
  • Conduct current-state and future-state process analysis, gap assessments, and workflow evaluations.
  • Translate business requirements into clear functional specifications and technical deliverables.
  • Facilitate stakeholder discussions, workshops, and requirements-gathering sessions.

Data Analytics & Reporting

  • Analyze complex datasets and data models to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and business insights.
  • Develop customized reports, dashboards, KPIs, and metrics to support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis, forecasting, and what-if modeling.
  • Validate data accuracy and ensure consistency across multiple reporting sources.

Executive Reporting & Communications

  • Support weekly, monthly, and quarterly operating reviews by gathering and validating data inputs.
  • Create executive-ready presentations, dashboards, scorecards, and one-page summaries.
  • Present findings, recommendations, and business insights to leadership teams and key stakeholders.
  • Develop compelling narratives that translate complex data into actionable business recommendations.

Process Improvement & Operational Excellence

  • Evaluate existing business processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Identify root causes of operational challenges and develop structured solutions.
  • Support implementation of new workflows, reporting structures, and operational tools.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across business functions.

Project & Initiative Support

  • Manage and support small-to-mid-sized business initiatives and operational improvement projects.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project objectives, timelines, and deliverables are achieved.
  • Track project progress, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder communications.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Experience

  • Minimum 4 years of Business Analysis, Operations Analysis, Data Analytics, Process Improvement, or related experience.
  • Experience supporting business operations, reporting, and process optimization initiatives.
  • Experience developing leadership-level presentations and business recommendations.

  • MBA or other graduate degree.
  • Experience within utility, energy, operations, or infrastructure environments.
