Job Summary

Fortis Manufacturing is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Machine Operator to join our production team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in our manufacturing process by setting up, calibrating, operating, and maintaining computer-controlled and mechanical production machinery. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Machine Setup: Read and interpret standard operating procedures (SOPs), blueprints, or technical files to calibrate and prepare machinery for daily production cycles.
  • Equipment Operation: Safely run and monitor specialized manufacturing equipment to ensure optimal output and minimal downtime.
  • Quality Assurance: Inspect finished materials and components closely to guarantee they meet precise design specifications and high quality standards.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose machine inconsistencies or minor performance issues, making immediate physical adjustments or coordinating with the maintenance team for repairs.
  • Data Tracking: Utilize the internal ERP type of system to accurately record daily production metrics, log activity notes, and flag defects.
  • Team Handshakes: Participate in comprehensive shift-handoff communications to pass active operational notes smoothly to incoming operators.
  • Workspace Safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and debris-free work area while strictly adhering to all state health, safety, and company protective equipment regulations.


Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of manufacturing, press, or machine operations experience preferred, but not required.
  • Technical Literacy: Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints, work orders, and production instructions (will teach).
  • Math Competency: Strong basic mathematical skills, including comfort reading standard rulers and working with fractions or decimals.
  • Attention to Detail: Proactive mindset capable of identifying minor product inconsistencies before they exit the production line.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive movements for long periods during a full shift.
  • Clear close-range vision to accurately inspect product quality and read small machine dimensions.
