Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Estimator for our Heavy Civil division. This role is essential for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for large-scale civil construction projects, including highways, bridges, and other infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil construction and a proven track record of managing estimates through all project phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects including highways, bridges, and other infrastructure.
- Analyze bid documents and prepare bids in accordance with RFP requirements.
- Conduct site surveys and perform takeoffs to determine accurate quantities and costs.
- Utilize software tools such as HCSS, Primavera, and AGTEK for estimating and project management.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to ensure accurate project costing.
- Maintain cost tracking systems and update project budgets as necessary.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior estimators within the team.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and provide input on project scope and requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in estimating for heavy civil construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and experience with NYDOT and NYDDC projects is preferred.
- Proficiency in estimating software such as Bluebeam, B2W, HCSS, and OST.
- Familiarity with construction project management tools like Primavera.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
