Compensation: Hourly, Paid weekly

Location: The Golden Hog (Key Colony), Key Biscayne, Florida
Reports To: Store Manager, Bakery Manager

Job Summary: The Pastry Chef is a hands-on role responsible for producing a wide range of pastry and bakery products for the company. This position requires strong technical skills, creativity, and attention to detail to ensure consistent quality and presentation. The Pastry Chef also supports training, organization, and efficiency within the Bakery Department, working closely with the Bakery Manager to meet daily and seasonal production needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production & Quality
  • Prepare a variety of pastries, breads, and baked goods daily according to recipes and company standards.
  • Develop and test new desserts, seasonal products, and special-order items.
  • Ensure consistent taste, texture, and presentation of all products.
  • Operational Support
  • Assist with production schedules and packaging requirements for retail and special orders.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of supplies and ingredients, support ordering and stock rotation.
  • Monitor equipment and report maintenance needs.
  • Keep the bakery area clean, safe, and organized always.
  • Team Collaboration
  • Train and guide bakery staff and assistants in pastry techniques, efficiency, and quality standards.
  • Promote teamwork, communication, and a positive working environment.
  • Compliance & Safety
  • Follow all company policies, dress codes, and operating procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation, food safety, and health regulations always.
  • Operate equipment safely and in accordance with guidelines.

Qualifications & Abilities

  • High School Diploma required; Baking and Pastry Degree or Culinary Certification preferred.
  • Experience 3–5 years of professional pastry/bakery experience required.
  • Prior experience in a high-volume bakery or production environment is strongly preferred.
  • Supervisory or lead training experience a plus, with willingness to remain hands-on.
  • Knowledge of dietary-specific baking (gluten-free, sugar-free, etc.) is beneficial.
  • Strong technical baking and pastry skills with creativity and precision.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining consistency.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
