SUMMARY
The Program Aide is a direct support position with a focus on positively impacting the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or mental health diagnoses. We create and support meaningful experiences, in a variety of service areas offered including Prevocational Programming, Day Programming, & Supported Employment Services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide support and education in a one on one or group setting to participants enrolled in programing.
- Perform or assist with personal care tasks, including but not limited to, toileting, hygiene, feeding, ambulation, medication monitoring, and other tasks as needed or assigned.
- Create and implement programming options that focus on increased independence and community integration.
- Assist participants with transportation.
- Complete all documentation, case noting, and goal monitoring required for your role.
- Report noteworthy information accurately and timely to the Service Coordinator.
- Attend staff meetings or training as scheduled.
- Maintain high levels of confidentiality.
- Other duties as needed or assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Basic computer knowledge and cell phone use capabilities.
- Mastery of basic life and social skills and the ability to train others on these skills.
- Ability to implement the participants individual service plan as written.
- Ability to understand and follow directions, read, write, add, and subtract.
- Ability to positively communicate with all parts of the interdisciplinary team, including the community and other personnel, in a respectful way.
- Willingness to work with a variety of participants including those that may be aggressive, non-verbal and/or have high support needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Highschool diploma or equivalent plus a valid Wisconsin drivers license is required.
Experience or certification working in a caregiver role preferred.
Must be willing and able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Position requires talking, hearing, and far and near vision; standing, walking, bending, twisting, and reaching; feeling with fingers, writing and gripping with hands; occasional kneeling crouching, running, and pushing object weighing 50-80 pounds.
This positions also requires the ability to grapple/physically subduing a client; may require lifting people weighing 100 lbs. or more, supporting and carrying them, and involves a high degree of pushing (wheelchair).
ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
Most time is spent indoors with some time outside supporting clients where temperatures fluctuate between hot and cold, wet and humid conditions.
Additionally, 10% or less of time is used in providing personal care to clients involving exposure to blood and body fluids. Please note the possibility of physical attack or injury from a client can occur.
