Job DescriptionWe are looking for a skilled Financial Aid Analyst/Specialist to join our team in Virginia Beach, Virginia. In this Contract-to-Permanent role, you will play a pivotal part in guiding students through the financial aid process while ensuring compliance with federal regulations and institutional policies. The ideal candidate will be experienced in financial aid documentation, student counseling, and maintaining accurate records to support educational funding.

Responsibilities:
• Process documentation to secure funding for students, including VA Education Benefits, Military Tuition Assistance, scholarships, and other forms of aid.
• Monitor submission and receipt of ISIRs and ensure timely completion of verification for selected files.
• Facilitate entrance and exit loan counseling sessions for students, either in groups or individually.
• Stay updated on current financial aid regulations, including the Federal Student Aid Handbook, to ensure compliance.
• Regularly review incomplete files and verify student eligibility before disbursing funds.
• Oversee student accounts to ensure proper aid packaging and timely disbursement of funds.
• Meet with incoming students to initiate the financial aid process, explain available options, and assist with required forms and documentation.
• Provide ongoing support to students by addressing questions, resolving issues, and referring them to appropriate staff for academic advising.
• Monitor cash flow for expected and overdue funding, ensuring prompt and accurate disbursement.
• Handle additional tasks or projects assigned by campus leadership.• Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial aid or a related field.
• Proficiency in Automated Underwriting Systems and CRM platforms.
• Strong knowledge of compliance standards and financial aid regulations.
• Excellent customer service skills with a focus on educational settings.
• Ability to counsel students effectively on financial aid options and processes.
• Experience in monitoring disbursements and maintaining accurate records.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and leadership.
