Position Summary
The Medical Biller is responsible for accurately processing claims, resolving billing discrepancies, and ensuring timely reimbursement for all imaging services. This role requires strong knowledge of radiology/imaging CPT codes, payer guidelines, and medical billing best practices, including handling personal injury cases and lien-based billing.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, review, and submit claims for imaging services to insurance carriers (electronic & paper).
Review documentation to ensure accurate coding and compliance with payer policies.
Follow up on unpaid or denied claims.
Work claim rejections and denials; submit corrected claims and appeals as necessary.
Post payments, adjustments, and reconcile accounts.
Communicate with patients regarding billing questions, balances, and payment plans.
Manage personal injury accounts, including establishing, tracking, and updating liens.
Communicate professionally with attorneys and law offices regarding lien status, billing statements, medical records, and settlement negotiations.
Negotiate reasonable settlements on personal injury liens while maintaining compliance with facility policies and legal requirements.
Maintain knowledge of radiology billing guidelines, CPT/ICD-10 coding, and prior authorization processes.
Collaborate with front desk, scheduling, and clinical staff to resolve billing or documentation issues.
Qualifications
2 years minimum of medical billing experience (radiology/imaging and/or personal injury billing preferred).
Strong understanding of CPT/ICD-10 coding, EOBs, claim submission, and payer rules.
Experience working with personal injury liens and communicating with attorneys strongly preferred.
Proficiency with medical billing software and EMR systems.
Excellent communication, organization, and negotiation skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
