Job Description – Patient Care Coordinator:
The Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for serving as the first point of contact for patients at The Eye Doctor, LLC. The Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for greeting patients upon arrival, maintaining overall patient flow within the office, managing incoming phone volume, and scheduling patient appointments. Additional duties, as described below, are also expected.

Experience:

Two years of related experience, required

Experience with Microsoft office software suite, required.

Experience with Compulink EMR or equivalent Electronic Medical Record System, required

Experience with customer service, required.

Essential Functions:
-
Answer multi-line phones and either direct the caller to the appropriate party or handle the caller’s needs
-
Direct patient questions, schedule appointments, check on status of optical orders
-
Greet patients upon arrival
-
Provide patients with intake forms as well as copies of office policies and legally required documents
-
Ensure patients have complete insurance information in Compulink EMR upon arrival
-
Scan insurance cards, driver’s license, and HIPAA confirmation upon patient arrival

Attend staff meetings and departmental trainings
-
Other Functions:
-
Enter and maintain insurance coverage and related demographic information in the Compulink billing system.

Assist Benefits Coordinator in attaining patient insurance information, as requested
- Verify insurance coverage, insurance deductibles, and copays.
- Validate insurance effective dates, coverage levels, and financial obligations of the patient in advance of scheduled service dates.
- Communicate with patients regarding charges that may be in question including copayments and deductibles

Assist Billing Consultant in maintaining patient accounting records, as requested

Take copayments and payments for uninsured visits at time of patient arrival and enter them into the Compulink EMR patient ledger

Take optical/contact lens order payments and enter them into the Compulink EMR patient ledger

Provide patients with support and guidance as needed
