Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct initial oral screenings and assess oral health conditions of patients.
- Develop individualized treatment plans for patients.
- Perform dental procedures, such as extractions, root canals, and filling cavities.
- Install dental prostheses, such as bridges and dentures.
- Monitor growth and development of the teeth and jaws.
- Repair decayed and broken teeth through various methods including the preparation and placement of dental fillings.
- Manage dental emergencies including fractured teeth, facial swelling, and trauma.
- Prescribe medications as needed for dental preoperative and postoperative treatments and procedures.
- Maintain patients' dental records with accurate notations on dental treatments and progress.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws pertaining to dental and health care.
- Advise patients on oral health care including the prevention of dental diseases and possible treatments.
- Supervise the work of professional, technical, and administrative staff in the dental facility.
Requirements
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school.
- Valid state dental license (or eligible to obtain licensure upon hire) to practice dentistry without restrictions.
- A minimum of three years of clinical experience in dentistry post-graduation is preferred.
- Strong understanding of disease prevention and periodontal care as well as general dentistry practices and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills, with a proficiency in explaining complex dental concepts to patients of all ages and backgrounds.
- Able to handle multiple tasks and treat a variety of dental emergencies.
- Proficiency using modern dental software and technology including digital x-rays, intraoral cameras, and common office software.
- Strong leadership skills, capable of managing and training staff, ensuring high standards and efficient operations of the dental office.
