Job Title
Traveling General Contractor – Residential Remodeling
Overview
We’re looking for a skilled General Contractor to lead and work alongside a residential remodeling crew on projects across multiple locations. This role is perfect for someone who knows remodels inside and out—from demo to punch list—and is comfortable traveling, problem-solving on the fly, and delivering high-quality finishes in lived-in homes.
What You’ll Do
- Manage and execute residential remodeling projects (kitchens, bathrooms, whole-home renovations, additions, etc.)
- Travel to project sites and stay on location for the duration of each remodel
- Lead and coordinate remodeling crew and subcontractors
- Perform hands-on work as needed (framing, drywall, trim, tile, punch work, etc.)
- Plan daily work, manage timelines, and keep projects moving efficiently
- Order materials and ensure correct deliveries
- Read and interpret plans, scopes of work, and change orders
- Ensure all work meets local building codes and quality standards
- Communicate clearly with homeowners and project managers
- Maintain clean, safe, and respectful job sites in occupied homes
What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience in residential remodeling (not just new construction)
- Proven ability to manage crews and subcontractors
- Comfortable working in finished homes and interacting with homeowners
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly
- Solid knowledge of remodeling trades and sequencing
- Strong problem-solving skills (old houses welcome surprises)
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
- Contractor’s license preferred or required depending on location
Travel Details
- Frequent travel required (projects vary by location)
- Lodging and travel expenses covered or reimbursed
- Per diem available (if applicable)
Compensation
- Competitive pay based on experience and scope
- Travel expenses covered
- Opportunity for steady, long-term work
- Performance or project completion bonuses (if applicable)
Why This Role
- Consistent residential remodeling projects
- Organized scheduling and clear scopes
- Quality-focused work—not rushed production builds
- Respect for craftsmanship and experienced tradespeople
