- Mon - Thurs 5 am - 3:00 pm / Mon - Thurs 3:00 pm - 12:30 am
Pay: $20 - $24/hour depending upon experience About the Role
Manpower is seeking a skilled Structural Steel Saw Operator to join our client's fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately cutting structural steel materials—including beam, pipe, tube, channel, angle, and plate—using band saws, cold saws, and related cutting equipment. Your precision and attention to detail will directly support our fabrication, construction, and installation operations.
Key Responsibilities

Operate horizontal and vertical band saws to cut structural steel according to shop drawings and work orders

Measure, mark, and verify material dimensions using tape measures, squares, and layout tools

Read and interpret blueprints, cut lists, and fabrication details

Set up and adjust saw equipment for proper blade speed, feed rate, and material type

Inspect materials before and after cutting to ensure accuracy and quality

Select, maintain, and replace saw blades as needed

Deburr and finish cut materials

Safely operate forklifts, cranes, and other material-handling equipment (if certified)

Maintain organized staging areas and assist with inventory control

Perform routine equipment maintenance and cleaning

Follow all OSHA and company safety standards
Qualifications

2+ years of experience operating structural steel saws or similar fabrication equipment

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and cut lists

Strong understanding of structural steel materials (W-beams, HSS, pipe, channel, angle)

Solid math skills, including fractions, decimals, and measurement conversions

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced fabrication environment

Forklift certification preferred
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly

Ability to stand for extended periods

Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching

Comfortable working in an industrial/shop environment
Work Environment

Indoor fabrication shop setting

Exposure to noise, dust, and moving equipment

Required PPE: steel-toe boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves
Preferred (Not Required)

Experience in oil & gas, industrial construction, or commercial steel fabrication

Familiarity with CNC saw systems
