Job Title: Fabricator

Shift: 2nd Shift (5:30pm-6:00am; Monday-Thursday)

Job Summary

The Fabricator is responsible for assembling, creating, and repairing metal components and structures according to specifications, blueprints, and technical drawings. This role involves operating various tools and machinery to cut, shape, and join metal materials, ensuring high-quality and precise fabrication work. The Fabricator must maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Fabrication and Assembly

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements.
  • Cut, shape, and assemble metal components using tools such as saws, grinders, and welders.
  • Operate fabrication machinery, including press brakes, shears, and CNC equipment.

Quality Control

  • Inspect finished products to ensure they meet design specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform dimensional checks and adjust as needed to maintain precision.
  • Identify and resolve fabrication issues during the production process.

Tool and Equipment Maintenance

  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.
  • Report malfunctions or required repairs to the supervisor.
  • Ensure tools and machines are operated safely and efficiently.

Safety and Compliance

  • Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Comply with company policies, OSHA regulations, and industry standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace to reduce hazards.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with engineers, designers, and other team members to achieve project goals.
  • Communicate progress, challenges, and recommendations to supervisors.
  • Provide input on ways to improve fabrication processes and efficiency.

Desired Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in fabrication or welding preferred.
  • Previous experience in metal fabrication, welding, or a related field.

Skills and Competencies

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong welding skills, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
  • Experience operating fabrication tools and machinery.
  • Excellent attention to detail and precision.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

Certifications

  • Welding certification (e.g., AWS, ASME) preferred.
  • Forklift operation certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 40lbs.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and working in various positions.
  • Comfortable working in noisy, dusty, or hot environments.
