Job DescriptionWe are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to join a funds management organization in Southfield, Michigan on a Contract basis. This position will support core accounting operations by handling day-to-day financial activity, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring timely processing across payables, receivables, and the general ledger. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, sound accounting knowledge, and the ability to keep financial data organized and reliable in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
• Manage daily accounting activities across accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to ensure transactions are processed accurately and on schedule.
• Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining supporting documentation and verifying alignment with accounting records.
• Reconcile bank accounts regularly, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner.
• Maintain the general ledger by reviewing account activity, identifying inconsistencies, and supporting month-end close efforts.
• Monitor incoming and outgoing payments, follow up on variances, and help keep financial records complete and current.
• Assist with reporting and account analysis by compiling financial data and providing clear documentation for review.
• Support process continuity during accounting workflow or system-related changes when needed, ensuring records remain accurate throughout transitions.• Experience performing accounting duties in a finance or accounting environment with strong attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger processes.
• Ability to prepare journal entries accurately and maintain organized supporting records.
• Experience completing bank reconciliations and researching variances effectively.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and spreadsheet tools used for financial tracking and reporting.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders on accounting matters.
