Job Summary:
CASES is a New York City agency working at the forefront of the intersection between behavioral health and involvement in the criminal justice system. The Nathaniel Clinic hosts various outpatient mental health programs to service our unique demographic; a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) located in Central Harlem and a Mental Health Outpatient Treatment and Rehabilitative Service (MHOTRS) Program located in the South Bronx. Both programs collaborate with other CASES programs to expand our reach to service the community.
Shift Hours: This position is full-time Monday – Friday; shifts include 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM or 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Salary: The salary for the role is $50,000 per year

Workplace Flexibility: Flexible – Staff have flexibility to complete their workday from home or another suitable space, typically after reporting to the office and/or engaging in field or community-based work.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Provide critical support to clients at risk of falling out of care, promote sustained engagement in treatment, and provide individual and group wellness services, all while modeling sustained recovery.
- Provide supports to referred and walk-in clients regarding completing the comprehensive intake assessment including completing intake paperwork enduring clients understanding of services available.
- Conduct targeted outreach to referred and active clients through phone calls and in-person community visits, working to address any barriers that might prevent them from attending and completing the Clinic’s two-session intake appointment and routine appointments.
- Deliver individual and group wellness services to support client recovery using the evidence-based WELLNESS RECOVERY ACTION PLAN (WRAP) curriculum, which provides clients with tools and strategies to manage their mental health and maintain their well-being.
- Participate in regularly occurring meetings to review cases collaboratively and inspire ongoing discussion of emerging client needs and trends.
- Collaborate with clinical team and supports identifying ongoing needs of assigned clients and establish ongoing plans for maintaining engagement in clinical services.
- Complete all necessary documentation of services provided through timely progress notes and service plan changes in the program electronic health records system that incorporates all communication with participants.
- Raise participant awareness of available services, pathways to recovery, and help remove barriers to mental health and substance use treatment and service access.
- Assist participants to select and utilize the things that bring a sense of passion, purpose, and meaning in their lives, coaching participant as they identify barriers to engaging in these activities.
- Assist participants with skills development that guides towards a more independent life.
- Participate in supervision, case review, staff meetings, and trainings to develop motivational interviewing, trauma-informed, peer support, case management, and self-help competence.
- Provide services responsive to the race, ethnicity, sexuality, gender, and criminal legal history of program participants.
- Any other duties as required by the Team Leader and other supervisory staff.
What We Are Looking For:
- High School Diploma or Equivalency degree.
- Certification as a Peer Specialist, Certified Recovery Coach (CARC) or Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA).
- Minimum of one year’s experience providing peer services in a social services program, providing direct services to individuals, families and/or groups, preferably in a field-based setting.
- Knowledge of community-based resources and support services for vulnerable individuals.
- Highly motivated self-starter, able to translate goals into action and deliver successful outcomes.
- Candidates who are justice-impacted or identify as having lived experience in various support systems are encouraged to apply.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with forensic, legal system or field-based mobile treatment teams strongly preferred.
- Experience working with individuals involved in the criminal legal system.
- Spanish-speaking.
- CASAC or CASAC-T.
