About the Role:
As an Optician, you will play a critical role in helping patients achieve optimal vision by accurately fitting and dispensing eyeglasses and contact lenses based on prescriptions from ophthalmologists or optometrists. You will ensure that each patient receives personalized care by interpreting prescriptions, taking precise measurements, and advising on lens types and frame styles that best suit their needs and lifestyle. Your expertise will contribute to enhancing patients' quality of life through improved vision and comfort. Additionally, you will manage appointment schedules and maintain detailed patient records to ensure smooth clinic operations. Your compassionate approach and technical skills will be essential in delivering exceptional customer service and fostering long-term patient relationships.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited opticianry training program or equivalent experience.
- Valid state licensure or certification as required by the United States jurisdiction.
- Proficiency in medical terminology related to eye care.
- Demonstrated manual dexterity and ability to perform precise measurements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree or higher in opticianry or related field.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and appointment scheduling software.
- Strong background in biology or anatomy related to vision and eye health.
- Previous customer service experience in a healthcare or retail setting.
- Certification from the American Board of Opticianry (ABO) or National Contact Lens Examiners (NCLE).
Responsibilities:
- Interpret and verify optical prescriptions to accurately fill eyeglass and contact lens orders.
- Measure patients’ eyes and facial features to ensure proper fit and comfort of eyewear.
- Assist patients in selecting appropriate frames and lenses based on their prescription, lifestyle, and preferences.
- Adjust and repair eyeglasses to ensure optimal fit and function.
- Manage appointment scheduling and maintain organized patient records.
- Provide education and guidance on proper eyewear care and usage.
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues related to eyewear products or services.
- Submit Claims using Software
- Front Office duties based upon business operational needs
- Working with patients including working up, takin vision and testing based upon operational needs
