Job Description: Registered Nurse (RN) - Evening Shift
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team for the evening shift (7 PM - 7 AM). The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care across various age groups, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. This dynamic role entails conducting comprehensive assessments, creating individualized care plans, and providing education to patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect health history data from patients, families, and medical records while employing effective communication strategies tailored to various developmental stages.
- Complete admission assessments promptly and notify appropriate consults upon identifying admission criteria.
- Utilize the Braden scale for ongoing patient assessments and risk management.
- Continuously reassess the physical, psychosocial, and educational needs of patients, updating care plans as necessary in coordination with patients and their families.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate and individualized plans of care to ensure a safe and healing environment, addressing safety, education, and psychological needs (e.g., skin integrity, safety, and mental health).
- Delegate nursing responsibilities based on the skill level of caregivers while coordinating care using an interdisciplinary approach.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient responses to interventions, treatments, and education, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
- Assess patient and family comprehension, initiating teaching sessions with age-appropriate materials to address knowledge gaps and prepare for discharge.
- Begin the discharge planning process at admission, ensuring continuity of care throughout the hospital stay and providing ongoing education about discharge instructions.
- Sign off on medical orders correctly and timely, maintaining clear communication with healthcare teams and monitoring telemetry readings for significant arrhythmias and chest pain protocols.
- Manage patients on high-risk intravenous cardiac medications and assist with elective cardioversion procedures.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is preferred.
- Licensure/Certifications: Current Registered Nurse License in NJ. BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are required.
- Experience: 1-2 years of related nursing experience is preferred.
