Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Financial Analyst to support financial operations and analysis across departments. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining financial systems, supporting budget preparation, conducting financial analysis, and assisting in the development of financial policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will be analytical, collaborative, and skilled in both technical finance and communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Budget & Reporting

- Assist in preparing and monitoring departmental and agency-wide budgets.
- Prepare quarterly and monthly financial statements and grant billings.
- Analyze program performance metrics including financials, staffing, facility usage, and cost effectiveness.
- Conduct variance analysis (actual vs. planned) and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Financial Analysis & Technical Support

- Conduct fiscal impact studies and cost-effectiveness feasibility assessments.
- Evaluate proposals and perform financial forecasting.
- Provide technical assistance to internal departments on budgeting, payroll, purchasing, and financial analysis.
- Policy & Compliance

- Help develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
- Interpret financial policies and provide guidance to staff.
- Support the preparation of annual financial statements and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Cross-Departmental Support

- Serve as a liaison between the Finance Department and other internal departments.
- Respond to inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and assist with special projects.
- Professional Development

- Stay current with financial trends, regulations, and best practices.
- Attend workshops and participate in professional organizations.
- Other Duties

- Perform other finance-related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Public Administration, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. - Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial management, budgeting, accounting, policy analysis, or financial research. Experience in a governmental or grant-funded organization is preferred. - Skills & Abilities:

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Excel
- Ability to interpret complex financial data and present findings clearly
- Comfortable working across departments and with external partners
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
Special Requirements:
- Must pass a criminal background check. (A conviction does not automatically disqualify a candidate.)
- Valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain one if required).
