A challenging opportunity exists for a Registered Nurse with specialized skills in critical care to support patients in a 17-bed ICU setting. This role involves caring for patients with complex conditions such as sepsis, renal failure, COPD, and heart failure, utilizing advanced life support technologies including ventilators, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), minimally invasive cardiac monitoring, and various drains. The position requires flexibility to float to like or lower acuity units and across different healthcare facilities, ensuring responsiveness to staffing needs.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Current RN license eligible for practice in the state or covered by compact licensing
  • Minimum of 2 years ICU experience required
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Certification required
  • Prior travel nursing experience preferred, with no local applicants (within 50 miles accepted)
  • Ability and willingness to float between units and facilities
  • Completion of dysrhythmia exam at orientation

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and deliver comprehensive critical care nursing including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care
  • Administer medications safely following state and organizational standards
  • Utilize clinical judgment to manage complex patient conditions and adjust plans accordingly
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and serve as a liaison for patients and families
  • Support patient safety initiatives and participate in quality improvement efforts
  • Provide care involving advanced technology such as ventilators, CRRT, IABP, and hemodynamic monitoring

Additional Role Details:

  • Shift schedule: 12-hour PM shifts, alternating weekends and holidays
  • Agency nurses expected to float as needed across units and sites
  • Orientation involves managerial review and clinical interview prior to final offer
