Job Overview
The Patient Refills & Support Pharmacy Technician plays a critical role in ensuring patients receive their medications on time and without interruption. This role is responsible for processing prescription refills, contacting patients and providers, resolving claim issues, and maintaining accurate documentation. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and committed to providing excellent patient-centered service while supporting the overall efficiency of the pharmacy team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing Prescription Refills: Accurately and efficiently handle weekly assigned refills ensuring continuity of therapy and timely patient access to medications.
  • Patient Outreach: Proactively contact patients to confirm refill needs, schedule deliveries, and provide support with any barriers to care.
  • Coordinate with Providers: Communicate with prescribers’ offices to obtain refill authorizations to ensure continuity of care.
  • Troubleshoot Issues: Identify and resolve claim rejections and notify appropriate team of prior authorization requirements and other barriers.
  • Data Entry & Documentation: Accurately enter and update prescription and patient information in pharmacy systems, maintaining clear and thorough documentation of all actions taken.
  • Inventory Coordination: Verify medication availability, identify potential shortages, and communicate special handling requirements to the shipping and fulfillment team.
  • Compliance & Quality: Follow all pharmacy policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to ensure patient safety and operational excellence.
  • Customer Service: Deliver courteous, professional, and empathetic communication when assisting patients, providers, and internal team members.

Experience

  • Current Pharmacy Technician license in the state of Georgia.
  • 1+ years of experience in a pharmacy technician role; retail or specialty pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with pharmacy management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with HIPAA regulations.
