An opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to provide specialized care in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) focusing on cardiology patients awaits in Winston-Salem, NC. This contract role serves a 28-bed unit in a large academic medical center with a Level 1 Trauma Designation, Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center. The unit handles complex cardiac cases including Acute Coronary Syndrome, heart failure, post-cardiac catheterization care, arrhythmia management, and vascular conditions.
Responsibilities include comprehensive patient assessments, cardiac rhythm interpretation, titration of critical drips such as Dobutamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerine, and others, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including hospitalists, intensivists, and respiratory therapists available 24/7. The nurse will utilize Epic EMR and Alaris IV pumps in daily care and telemetry monitoring, maintaining close communication with CNAs and unit support staff. Patient ratios average 1 RN to 4-5 patients with CNA support.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Current RN license
- Minimum 1 year experience in cardiology or PCU nursing
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- Proficient in cardiac rhythm interpretation and post-procedural cardiac care
- Comfortable titrating multiple drips including Argatroban, Digoxin, Dopamine, and Nitroglycerine
