Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct initial patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history review
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and preventive care strategies
- Assist the dentist during examinations, procedures, and treatments using four-handed dentistry techniques
- Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while maintaining strict infection control protocols
- Review and update medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, ensuring excellent patient care and safety standards are upheld
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current credentials
- Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for charting and documentation
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control, and aseptic techniques
- Experience in pediatric dentistry or working with pediatric patients is highly desirable
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems and medical coding practices
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining high standards of patient care
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively about their oral health needs
