Catalano Oral Surgery, Private Practice @ Park Ridge Medical Center

We are seeking a full-time or part-time Surgical Assistant to join our team! As a Surgical Assistant, you will work closely with Dr. Catalano to prepare patients for their surgeries, have the surgical instruments and surgical suite setup for upcoming procedures, maintain oral surgery supplies inventory and assist the doctor in procedures standing chairside. If you are a recent graduate from a dental assisting program, or have experience working for a GD, endo, ortho or another surgical practice, please feel free to apply! Dr. Catalano is happy to train the right person to become an oral surgery assistant. Dr. Catalano is an easy going, patient provider to work for. He has chosen to keep his practice focused on mostly tooth extractions, 4/3rds, bone grafting and biopsies with in office IV sedation. Phlebotomy experience is not required, but appreciated. The ideal candidate we are seeking must have a positive, humble, caring and compassionate personality, and be willing to grow and display professionalism both in their demeanor and appearance. This candidate must also be a team player willing to cross train in and help the front desk from time to time if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Review preoperative instructions and legal consent forms with patients
  • Prep & review patient's charts prior to surgery
  • Take Digital Images (3D Scans, Panoramic Images & PA's)
  • Prepare the surgical suite and necessary implements ahead of the procedure
  • Assist the doctor and other surgical assistants during the surgical procedure
  • Discharge and Post Op Care for patients
  • Proper patient charting/treatment letters
  • Sterilization of instruments/sanitizing surgical suites
  • Maintain the appropriate oral surgery inventory, and order supplies as needed

Qualifications

  • BLS/CPR Certificate
  • Humble, loving and friendly personality, with a desire to help others
  • Experience in a dental or surgical setting desired
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, works well with others
  • Admin skills such as operating a computer, typing & making phone calls
