About This Role
The Dogwood School is a well-established, play-based preschool in Chester, NJ, seeking a warm and nurturing Part Time Teacher Assistant to join our team for the 2026–2027 school year.
Our teachers and assistants work together to inspire children ages 2–6 through hands-on learning, meaningful relationships, and daily exploration in our beautiful outdoor classrooms. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with young children, loves being outdoors, and values being part of a supportive team.
This is a flexible part-time position with afternoon hours (approximately 11:30 AM–3:00/3:30 PM or 12:00 PM–4:00 PM), Monday through Friday. It is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a rewarding part-time position that follows the local school calendar. Compensation is $16–20 per hour, based on experience.
What You'll Do
- Support teachers in creating a warm, safe, and nurturing classroom.
- Assist with play-based learning activities.
- Build positive relationships with children and families.
- Work collaboratively with your teaching team.
- Supervise children indoors and in our outdoor classrooms.
- Help maintain a clean and organized classroom.
- Follow all health and safety requirements.
Requirements
- Experience working with young children preferred.
- Warm, nurturing, and dependable.
- Enjoy working as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- Preschool or early childhood experience.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Enjoy spending time outdoors in all seasons.
- Experience with play-based learning.
