Our organization is the community supportive services partner of KBK Enterprises. The Foundation provides programs and services to all residential sites either owned or man-aged by KBK Enterprises. These programs provided by KBK Foundation empower residents by assisting them to take significant strides toward self-sufficiency. KBK Foundation was incorporated in April 2009 as an Ohio non-profit corporation for charitable purposes, as such term is defined for purposes of Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. The Foundation’s primary focuses are: Community Development, Economic Development, Social Services, and Art.
Job Summary
The Community Relations Officer (CRO) is a vital link between KBK Foundation and the residents of properties owned or operated by KBK Enterprises LLC. This role involves the thoughtful implementation and execution of supportive service programs designed to enrich a diverse population's social and recreational lives. The CRO is dedicated to identifying and establishing a range of services that cater to the varied needs of all residents, fostering a sense of belonging and community engagement. To ensure these programs resonate with the community, the CRO monitors participation levels and feedback, adapting offerings to meet residents' evolving demands and interests. This proactive approach not only enhances the quality of life for individuals but also strengthens the overall fabric of the community, making it a more vibrant and inclusive place to live. Each property has a set of unique neighborhood qualities, which will require the CRO to set the tone for the property and manage the plan, programming, and services while being sensitive to local political dynamics. Finally, the CRO must ensure compliance with all local and federal laws, requirements, and guidelines established by the City and State Housing Authorities of Pennsylvania and Ohio, governing youth and community services, regarding the KBK Foundation staff and the daily affairs of all programs. The CRO must be a problem-solver focused on meeting the demands and needs of the entire community, as would a local Mayor.
Key Responsibilities:
Tasks include but are not limited to:
1. The CRO's vision must be to establish and maintain a sense of community, not only at the particular KBK Enterprises - owned or managed property but also in the larger neighborhood, to create a healthy community.
2. The CRO will be responsible for identifying the community's needs and providing services to meet those demands and needs appropriately. The CRO will also serve as quality control officer regarding service delivery to the community.
3. Assist with, and maintain networks of existing community-based supportive and social service agencies, identified by the Program Manager, including YMCAs, Public Libraries, After-school Programs, Public School Systems, etc.
4. Maintain open lines of communication with all partner agencies to ensure they fulfill their commitments. Such organizations will provide services that may include, but are not limited to, job readiness, education, and employment; preventative health screenings; budget counseling and money management; parenting skills and childcare alternatives; educational opportunities; leadership development; and other family services.
5. Prepare weekly reports on supportive service activities and serve as a liaison with established non-profit partners and other governmental/reporting agencies as required. Prepare a monthly program newsletter. Coordinate all activities with the KBK Foundation program manager and provide all reports to ensure the HUD Program's requirements are met.
6. Promote on-site educational events, including health care subjects, job search seminars (job fairs), and life skills education.
7. Provide technical assistance to residents by assisting with established programs at the property, developed fundraising activities, and providing other services as needed.
8. Set up volunteer support programs with service provider organizations in the community.
9. Market after-school programs to the partnering organizations.
10. Supervise assistants, aides, and volunteers in the community spaces.
11. Keep all appropriate records and attendance sheets as assigned by the program manager for funding reports and Billing.
12. Meet all applicable PA/OH licensing regulations (Act 33/34 clearances, FBI clearance).
13. Improve knowledge and skills through participation in education sessions, annual service coordinator meetings, staff meetings, and other professional development opportunities.
14. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Supervision:
The Community Relations Officer reports to the Community Supportive Services (CSS) Program Manager who reports to Director of Community Supportive Service for the KBK Foundation. This role also has a collaborative working relationship with KBK Enterprises (KBKE) through the transition period from property development to leasing. He/she is expected to perform the duties of the job following established procedures in accordance with all State and local HUD programs and KBK Enterprises policies. He / she will exercise initiative and independent judgment while seeking advice and assistance from the CSS Director and Program Manager for unusual and challenging cases.
Requirements:
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with participating families, KBKE, KBKF, and program staff,
2. Collaborate with external partners and agencies (both public and private) as assigned by the Program Manager.
3. Knowledge of supportive service programs
4. Ability to identify and recruit residents to provide appropriate services for an economically and socially diverse community of families
5. Ability to perform duties organized under limited supervision within established deadlines.
6. Must be able to work with and maintain confidential information on a regular basis.
Education and Experience:
1. Graduation from an accredited college or university required
2. Minimum three (3) years of experience in an area directly related to the position.
3. Education and experience in providing services & programming to a large and socioeconomically diverse population as well as individual case management experience
Job Type and Work Schedule:
Full-Time Exempt; Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the possibility of additional hours during peak periods or special projects as needed.
