GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION
Operates various pieces of heavy equipment at the Delmar, MD chipping facility that includes, but is not limited to:
Knuckle-boom loaders, Skid-steer, Front-end/Bucket loader, Yard trucks, Farm tractor, and Wood slasher. This
position will support the chipping operation via: unloading incoming roundwood, loading yard trucks for staging of
wood, feeding the jack-ladder, rotating/moving inventory, grounds-keeping, assigned maintenance duties, and
other responsibilities that are customary within a wood processing operation.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Unloading of incoming pulpwood and placing into inventory storage.
• Operation of tractor (commercial truck tractor) within yard setting for transporting wood.
• Backfilling of various other hourly jobs on the yard due to vacations and other time-off related situations.
• General cleanup of yard and equipment including operation of skid-steer and front-end loader.
• General maintenance to include oil changes, hydraulic hose replacement, and other routine duties;
• Embracement and adherence to Pixelle Safety trainings, policies, and awareness to include participation
in regular daily safety talks and weekly safety meetings.
• Proper and safe use of hand and power tools like shovels, rakes, chainsaws, and grinders;
• Notification to Supervision or Leadership of any safety, maintenance, or operational issues in a timely
manner with the appropriate amount of urgency.
• Treats co-workers, customers, Management, suppliers, contractors, and other stake-holders with
professionalism and respect.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to communicate verbally and written for documentation of maintenance and safety training;
• Reliability and punctuality a must;
• Ability to embrace and be receptive to change;
• Must be able to work in a fast paced team environment;
• Ability to lift 60 lbs at a variety of positions to waste level;
• Ability to work outside during all weather conditions;
• Ability to have depth perception and vision 180 degrees
• Ability to work from heights and climb vertical ladders of 20ft or more;

• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment to include steel toe boots, hard hat, safety glasses,
safety vest, and dust masks.
• Recognition and acceptance that weather and business conditions play a critical role in scheduling and
production, and that Company assets will be operated accordingly.
PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
• Heavy equipment operator experience.
• Associate/technical degree or other training, development, certification specific to equipment operation
or skilled labor.
• Wood processing, woodyard, timber harvesting, or forestry experience.
• Self-motivated. Productive and efficient on own accord and when working independently.
• Able to take ownership of performance under own initiative.
• Mechanical aptitude – ability to assist in Chip Mill maintenance and repairs.
• Welding, Cutting-torch, and other hot work experience
