As a Home Health Occupational Therapist Assistant, here’s a big-picture view of what you’ll do:
- Acts at the direction and under the supervision of the treating occupational therapist and in accordance with the plan of care.
- Participates in the development and evaluation of the plan of care in partnership with the patient, representative (if any), and caregiver(s).
- Counsels and educates the patient and the family, and other caregivers to promote patient progress toward mutually established goals and in meeting healthcare related needs.
- Communicates with all physicians involved in the plan of care and other health care practitioners (as appropriate) related to the current plan of care.
- Teaches task-oriented therapeutic activities designed to restore physical function, as well as sensory-integrative function,
- Teaches compensatory technique to improve the level of independence in the activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Effectively communicates with other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team providing care to promote coordination of patient care and planning for discharge
A few must-haves for Home Health Occupational Therapist Assistants:
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Program and active OTA certificate in FL
- Minimum of 1 years of occupational therapy assistant experience in home healthcare
- CPR certification
- Knowledge of state and federal home health regulations
- Good clinical judgement, strong interpersonal skills, resourceful and compassionate
