General Manager (GM)
Reports To: Owner
Status: Full-Time, Salaried
ROLE SUMMARY
The General Manager is the overall leader in the restaurant responsible for maintaining the quality and hospitality standards of Three Dollar Cafe. We are looking for someone who is capable of driving performance across all areas of the business including sales growth, profitability, guest experience, team leadership, and brand standards.
The GM serves as the culture carrier and final decision-maker on site, ensuring smooth daily operations while building, coaching, and developing managers and future leaders. This role requires a hands-on operator who leads from the front, sets clear expectations, and holds the team accountable to results.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations & Guest Experience
- Own day-to-day restaurant operations across FOH and BOH
- Collaborate with the kitchen staff to ensure timely food preparation and quality control
- Maintain brand standards, cleanliness, food quality, and service execution
- Implement strategies to enhance the overall dining experience and promote repeat business
- Regularly interact with guests, build relationships, and address their needs and concerns
- Handle customer feedback, complaints, and resolve any issues promptly and professionally; trained in de-escalation
Financial Performance
- Drive sales through execution, staffing, and local marketing initiatives
- Control labor, food, and operating costs to meet budget targets
- Develop and manage the restaurant's budget, including revenue forecasts, cost analysis, and expense control.
- Analyze sales trends, customer preferences, and market conditions to identify opportunities for growth.
- Oversee cash handling, deposits, and financial controls
Leadership & People Management
- Recruit, train, coach, and develop a diverse team of employees, including hiring, scheduling, and performance management
- Conduct regular staff meetings to communicate goals, policies, and operational updates
- Set expectations and hold employees accountable to results
- Conduct performance reviews and corrective actions when necessary
- Foster a positive, respectful, and team-oriented culture
Scheduling & Staffing
- Build and manage weekly schedules aligned with forecasted sales
- Ensure proper staffing levels without sacrificing labor targets
- Maintain compliance with wage and hour laws
Systems & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, food handling, and alcohol regulations
- Conduct regular inspections to maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout the restaurant
- Train staff on proper safety procedures and maintain documentation for health inspections
- Execute company policies, procedures, and training programs
- Partner with ownership on initiatives, reporting, and growth plans
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of General Manager experience in a full-service restaurant
- Experience leading both FOH and BOH managers
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team
- Excellent customer service and problem solving skills
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certified
- Proven ability to manage budgets and control costs
- Hands-on operator comfortable with flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays
- Above average knowledge of wine, food & spirits
- Integrity, honesty, accountability, a passion for hospitality, and an incapability of making excuses for anything less than excellence
- Spanish proficiency a plus
