Job Summary
The Editor is a core member of the team at VitaminMD and is responsible for collaborating to ensure the quality of medical communications content, particularly focusing on scientific accuracy, clarity, and adherence to industry standards. This role involves collaborating with account and medical teams and providing strategic guidance on content development for various deliverables, including manuscripts, slide decks, regulatory documents, and other digital and print content. The ideal candidate is an experienced editorial professional with a strong background in medical communications, capable of delivering high-quality content that meets client objectives and regulatory requirements.
Key Job Responsibilities (Duties may include, but are not limited to all or some of the following)

  • Conduct quality control reviews of medical communications materials, including manuscripts, presentations, and other digital and print assets to ensure scientific accuracy, grammatical precision, and stylistic consistency in all content.
    • These reviews include extensive scientific fact-checking, as well as the various forms of copyediting and change-checking.
  • Assist in the development of content strategies and ensure all materials meet client objectives, scientific standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and style and editorial guideline adherence across all content deliverables.
  • Develop and implement editorial processes, ensuring adherence to best practices and compliance with industry standards, such as AMA and ICMJE guidelines.
  • Work closely with account, medical, copy, and project management teams to align editorial with project goals and timelines.
  • Partner with scientific and client-facing teams to manage complex projects, address client feedback, and adapt content strategies.
  • Address client feedback with a solution-oriented approach, ensuring revisions align with scientific accuracy and project goals.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations, compliance standards, and evolving guidelines in medical communications.
  • Ensure all content adheres to regulatory and compliance requirements, including fair balance, disclosure of conflicts of interest, and appropriate handling of proprietary information.
  • Identify opportunities for editorial innovation, including integrating new tools, templates, and workflows to enhance content quality and efficiency.
  • Participate in initiatives to improve editorial processes, implementing best practices to streamline content development and enhance team productivity.
  • Collaborate constructively and amiably with all team members to build on the positive culture of professionalism, excellence, and client service at VitaminMD.

Job Qualifications (Skills/Requirements)

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 3+ years of experience in medical editorial or medical writing roles, preferably within a medical communications agency or pharma environment.
  • Expertise in developing and reviewing a wide range of medical content formats, including manuscripts, presentations, and digital materials.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with strong editing and quality control abilities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage clients and address their needs.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry standards (AMA, ICMJE) and regulatory requirements in medical communications.
  • Familiarity with reference management tools, medical content platforms, and relevant software (Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat).
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, with strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Willingness to stay updated on industry developments, new editorial tools, and regulatory changes.
