JOB PURPOSE or JOB SUMMARY:
The Quality Assurance Technician supports the quality assurance program by performing inspections, verifying product conformance, and assisting with quality improvement activities within the machine shop and assembly operations. This role works closely with production, engineering, and quality personnel to ensure products meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, and internal quality standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interprets engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and work instructions and uses precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, optical comparators, and CMM to verify product conformance.
- Verifies inspection equipment calibration status and reports out-of-calibration conditions.
- Conducts first piece, last piece, first article, in-process, and level two inspections within machine shop and assembly operations.
- Records inspection results and maintains quality documentation, including Control Plans and In-Process Inspection Check Sheets, in compliance with company procedures and ISO requirements.
- Supports Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIR) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation.
- Processes and analyzes nonconforming product, supports disposition activities, and implements containment as required.
- Identifies machine shop and assembly quality issues and supports root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives related to product quality and process capability.
- Communicates inspection results and quality concerns with production, engineering, and other JEM personnel to resolve product-related issues.
- Supports ISO and product/process audits and represents the quality department with professionalism and sound judgment.
- Complies with all JEM policies and procedures, including ISO, OSHA, and AWAIR requirements, while supporting JEM’s vision, mission, and core values. Maintains regular and predictable attendance and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
- Two to five years of related experience in a manufacturing and/or quality setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and product specifications
- Experience with typical gauges, instruments, and CMM a plus
- Professional designation through ASQ (Certified Quality Technician) a plus
- CNC Precision Manufacturing Technician degree or diploma a plus
- Certification as a Fluid Power Specialist or equivalent certification a plus
- Basic computer skills
