A Finance Manager is a key player in the financial leadership of an organization, responsible for overseeing financial operations, planning, and strategy. Their role is critical to ensuring the financial health, stability, and growth of the business. Finance Managers provide financial guidance to support decision-making, manage budgets, ensure regulatory compliance, and lead the financial planning process ending with finalizing the yearly Financial statements .

Roles and Responsibilities

Financial Planning and Analysis:

  • Develop and oversee financial strategies that align with the organization’s objectives.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Provide insights and recommendations for optimizing profitability and improving financial performance.

Forecasting:

  • Create financial forecasts to project the company’s financial performance, identifying potential risks and opportunities.
  • Monitor actual performance against budgets, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions.

Financial Reporting:

  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including management, investors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards, such as GAAP or IFRS, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Validate the data and review with senior management.

Cash Flow and Treasury Management:

  • Manage the organization’s cash flow, ensuring that there is adequate liquidity for operational needs.
  • Oversee the management of working capital, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory.

Cost Management and Efficiency:

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to reduce expenses without compromising on quality or performance.
  • Monitor and control operating expenses, ensuring that resources are used efficiently.

Risk Management:

  • Identify and manage financial risks, including market, credit, and operational risks.
  • Implement internal controls and procedures to safeguard the organization’s financial assets and ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Oversee the organization’s insurance programs and other risk mitigation measures.

Compliance and Audit Management:

  • Ensure that the organization adheres to all financial regulations, including tax compliance, audit requirements, and industry-specific financial laws.
  • Liaise with external auditors during audits, providing necessary documentation and insights to ensure a smooth audit process.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and policies to minimize risk and enhance financial accountability.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Manage and mentor the finance and accounting team, providing leadership, support, and professional development opportunities.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and performance management of the finance staff to ensure a high-performing team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration within the finance department.

Requirements

Competencies:

  • Thorough knowledge of accounting and corporate finance principles and procedures
  • Working knowledge of accounting software platforms
  • Personal integrity: ability to keep customer and company confidence

  • analytical skills with the ability to work with large amounts of data and draw conclusions.

Technical Competencies/Skills

  • Experience in financial statements, managing audits, business partnering and statutory advice.

Education:

Bachelors in Accounting and Finance with 5+ years of Accounting experience and 2 years of General Finance controlling

or

Masters in Finance with 5 years of controlling experience

or

professional accounting qualification as a ACCA CA or CPA with 5+ years of Experience

Experience

Minimum 5+ years of relevant accounting experience
