Job Description\n
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift position requiring EPIC and drip administration skills, with participation on an inclement weather response team.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
- Work in a hospital Medical Surgical unit caring for adult and geriatric patients
- Typical patient diagnoses include a general mix of Med/Surg cases with a daily census of approximately 43
- Assignment involves administering insulin and heparin drips, wound vac dressing changes, and high flow oxygen
- Shift is 12-hour nights (18:45 - 07:15), with every other weekend required
- Assignments may range from 13 to 26 weeks in length, with 36 or 48 hours per week accepted
- Travelers are required to take charge nurse responsibilities during night shifts
- Must be prepared to float to similar units and alternate care locations if needed
- Call is required for prescheduled shifts only
- Expectation to work holidays is mandatory
- Assigned to Inclement Weather, Storm, or Hurricane Teams as needed
- Uses EPIC for documentation and PYXIS for medication administration
- Responsible for providing care for adults and geriatrics with general Med/Surg needs, including COVID patients as assigned
- Must be able to work as part of an Inclement Weather or Emergency Response Team and report to work during catastrophic events
- Unit provides a 24-hour orientation
- Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted; no additional RTO or call-offs permitted after booking
- Charge nurse experience and CPI certification are preferred but not required
- Preference for applicants who are flexible with floating assignments
- Documentation is completed using the SBAR method
- Weekend rotation, holiday coverage, and participation in emergency staffing teams are required for all travelers

- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience
- Current BCLS certification required
- EPIC experience is mandatory
- Experience managing insulin and heparin drips required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- First-time travelers are welcome for consideration
- Scrubs in navy required (not provided by facility)
