Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Provide specialized nursing care in a high-acuity Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) supporting critical heart surgery patients. This contract opportunity is based in Hendersonville, NC, within a 19-bed mixed CVICU/CVRU unit renowned for advanced cardiac care and surgical support. The unit operates with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 or 1:1, adjusted by patient acuity, and benefits from experienced charge nurses and educators to support your clinical practice.

Qualifications & Desired Experience

  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum of 2 years of CVICU or CVRU nursing experience
  • Critical Care training essential
  • Passion for surgical heart care and acute patient management
  • Preferred: Certifications in Critical Care, Cardiac Surgery, or Recovery Room nursing

Responsibilities

  • Manage care for post-operative cardiac surgery patients, including those with IABP, Impella devices, LVADS, and ECMO
  • Perform clinical skills such as hemodynamic monitoring, chest tube and pacer wire removal, intubation and extubation
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive cardiovascular care
  • Adhere to unit policies including attire standards and punctual shift timing
  • Flexibility to float to all ICUs and Stepdown units as needed
