What We Are Looking For
Reporting to the Executive Director, Philanthropy, the Public Policy and Government Affairs Analyst advocates for SAC Health at all government levels and within key industry organizations. This role enhances the organization's visibility and influence by building relationships with policymakers, analyzing legislation, and shaping policy positions. The Analyst collaborates on grant opportunities and communication strategies aligned with SAC Health's strategic goals. This role will also support the public policy and government affairs efforts of SAC Health Foundation. Travel to other SAC Health clinics, offices or events as necessary; must have a reliable vehicle, valid driver's license, and auto insurance.
Schedule: 4 days per week, 10 hours per day,, Monday - Thursday 7:00am-5:30pm, 30 minute lunch Location: Brier Clinic,San Bernardino, CA
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DELIVERABLES
- Review proposed local, state, and federal legislation, government policies, and regulations by analyzing the potential impacts of new laws or amendments on government operations or the public.
- Prepare policy briefs for legislators, agency heads, or stakeholders.
- Write comprehensive reports summarizing research findings and providing actionable recommendations.
- Evaluate and administer public information and media communications regarding public policy issues.
- Coordinate events, and schedule meetings and appointments, related to policy discussions.
- Draft policy documents, memos, talking points, fact sheets, presentations, and background materials.
- Track changes in legislation and associated deadlines.
- Respond to inquiries and requests for information from the media (in collaboration with the Director, Brand Marketing and Public Affairs), government agencies, City staff, and members of the public.
- Identify and recommend local, state, and federal grant opportunities.
- Support SAC Health Foundation with identified public policy objectives.
- Travel to other SAC Health clinics, offices or events as necessary; must have a reliable vehicle, valid driver's license, and auto insurance.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in business, communications, economics, healthcare administration, political science, public health, public policy, journalism or related field required. A Master's degree is preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: Valid CA Driver's License, and auto insurance.
- Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of public and governmental relations experience is required. One (1) year of advocacy in the healthcare sector and/or Federally Qualified Health Center is preferred.
- Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Comprehensive understanding of state and federal political and public policy issues impacting the local health care landscape, particularly for safety-net populations. Ability to effectively
communicate and interact with stakeholders, including keen attention to detail in reviewing government grant opportunities and managing key relationship. - Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and public relations skills, with demonstrated ability to establish effective relationships with elected officials and diverse professionals across the political, business, education, non-profit, and health care sectors
- Essential Mental Abilities: Advanced analytical skills, including proficiency in data analysis and interpretation of complex legislative and regulatory proposals
- Work Eligibility: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Must not now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visas.
