Director of Security Operations


Position Summary:

The role of the Director of Security Operations is to ensure that the company's assets, locations and staff are safe and secure. This role is responsible for leadership and operations oversight of the Security Operations Center (SOC) Empyreal relies on sophisticated technology to protect the property it transports and the employees that provide services on its behalf. The SOC is Empyreal's competitive advantage, and the Director of Security Operations is critical to our continued success. The Director ensures that the SOC is staffed 24/7 with competent shift leaders and security monitoring agents. The Director of Security Operations will lead incident command in coordination with the Shift Leads to maintain continuity with Empyreal staff and local authorities.


Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to:

Strategic Planning & Leadership

  • Develop and implement security strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with organizational goals and risk assessments.


Security Operations Management

  • Oversee daily SOC operations including monitoring, detection, incident response and vulnerability management.


Team Management

  • Recruit, train and manage SOC personnel fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.


Incident Response

  • Lead and direct incident response activities, ensuring timely and effective resolution of security breaches.


Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with relevant security regulations and standards. Identify and mitigate risks. Conduct regular security assessments and audits.


Technology & Camera Management

  • Oversee the implementation and management of security technologies, including access control systems, facility surveillance cameras and security and event management (SIEM) systems.


Security Project Management & Coordination

  • Collaborate with Operations, People and IT departments to integrate security controls and promote a security-conscious culture.


Reporting & Communication

  • Report on security operations performance to senior management and provide clear, concise communication during security incidents. Prepare thorough investigation reports.



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required.
  • 5 years of progressively responsible experience in security management in the public or private sector is required.
  • Management experience in the public or private sector is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is required.
  • Knowledge of security, loss prevention and risk trends in the banking, cash movement and logistics industries is strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills are crucial to success in this role.
  • Experience in the gaming or cash-in-transit industries is a plus.


Physical Requirements:

  • This position is based in our headquarters located in Englewood, Colorado.
  • Up to 20% travel may be required.
  • Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time reviewing video footage and reports.
