Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry night shift assignment requiring WV or compact RN licensure and critical drip experience.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in an acute care hospital on a 32-bed Telemetry/Med-Surg unit
  • Primary patient population includes adult and geriatric patients with cardiopulmonary diagnoses such as CHF, chest pain, and post-cardiac cath
  • RN:patient ratio is 1:6
  • Critical drip titration required including Nitro (chest pain), Amiodarone, Lasix, Heparin, and low-dose Dopamine
  • Monitor techs provide 24/7 coverage; RNs review telemetry strips each shift
  • Assignment is night shift (1845-0645), with 12-hour shifts, rotating weekends and holidays
  • May float to other Med-Surg units or the Emergency Department to care for boarded patients
  • Uses Epic EMR
  • First day includes general hospital orientation, with two 12-hour shifts of unit orientation and a nursing orientation day
  • May be asked to fill or cross-train as Charge Nurse if interested
  • Solid navy scrubs are required for RNs, with restrictions on patterns and embroidery, and closed-toed shoes are mandatory
  • Weekend work is every other weekend, with holiday shifts rotated among staff based on prior year’s assignments
  • Nurse aides available with different ratios on day and night shifts
  • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility; local travelers not accepted
  • Returning travelers must have a 2-year break if previously employed in any WVU Medicine location, and cannot exceed one year cumulative experience within WVU before a 2-year break is required
  • Boarders in Emergency Department may be intermixed; float pool RNs float first
  • Skill checklist due within 90 days of start

\n \n Requirements\n

  • Active WV or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 1 year of Med-Surg and Telemetry RN experience
  • Travel RN experience required
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
  • Experience with titrating and managing critical IV drips required
  • Ability to use telemetry monitoring equipment
  • EMR experience with Epic preferred
