Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
Travel: 100% travel role
- onsite 2 weeks at a time and will have travel paid for to go home every other weekend (they can go home on the interim weekends, but it will be at their own expense)
Required Skills & Experience
- 3–10 years of connectivity experience, with at least 3 years in a data center
environment.
- Extensive telecommunications experience.
- Hands-on field experience in data center operations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage contractor relationships.
- No formal degree required.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly.
Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a highly skilled Connectivity Engineer with strong data center and telecommunications experience to support operations at a high-density data center campus. This role involves overseeing Outside Plant (OSP) connectivity for both new and retrofit construction projects, managing contractor performance, and ensuring seamless integration of fiber optic systems and head-end equipment. This is a 100% travel role and the candidate must be within an hour of an international airport.
- Collaborate with the Regional Construction Manager to oversee OSP operations across multiple buildings.
- Supervise contractor activities, ensuring adherence to project specifications and documentation standards.
- Review and manage documentation using tools such as Retrofit Tracker,
SmartSheets, VIN360, and CMMS.
- Support fiber optic connectivity, including head-end equipment, switches, racks, and server integration.
- Ensure proper installation and splicing of fiber optics for both new and retrofit
projects.
- Maintain clear communication with contractors and internal teams; must be confident and assertive in managing small teams (2–12 individuals).
