Deliver specialized patient care in a fast-paced medical-surgical telemetry unit located in Winston-Salem, NC. This role requires a knowledgeable professional with a minimum of two years of experience in medical-surgical telemetry nursing, focusing on complex patient needs such as diabetes management, gastrointestinal, respiratory, renal conditions, wound care including dressing changes, chest tubes, and tracheostomies.

Location Overview: Situated in a vibrant city known for its blend of urban culture and scenic beauty, this position offers the opportunity to work in a Level 1 Trauma Designated teaching hospital with 885 licensed beds. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive direct and indirect patient care on a 24-bed MedSurg Telemetry unit
  • Monitor patient telemetry strips and manage IV drips including Amiodarone, Fentanyl PCA, Ketamine PCA, Dilaudid PCA, and Heparin
  • Perform clinical tasks such as PIV starts, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, drain and tube management, and lab draws
  • Collaborate effectively with charge nurse, CNA, rapid response team, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists available around the clock
  • Utilize EMR (Epic), Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing systems accurately and efficiently
  • Participate in floating to other MedSurg units as needed

Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Registered Nurse with at least 2 years experience in MedSurg telemetry nursing
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (NIHSS required by resource team)
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work under moderate to high stress
  • Experience reading and interpreting telemetry strips
  • Comfortable managing a patient ratio of 5-6:1 with CNA support at 8:1
