Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our school-based team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children in educational settings and a strong understanding of child development and sensory integration. This role involves evaluating students, developing individualized therapy plans, and delivering interventions that support academic success and participation in school routines. The Occupational Therapist will collaborate closely with educators, families, and other specialists to ensure students receive the support they need to thrive.
Duties:
- Conduct evaluations to assess students' fine motor, sensory processing, and daily living skills within the school setting.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's occupational therapy needs.
- Provide direct therapy services to students to improve their functional performance in academic and social settings.
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to support student progress and promote integration of therapy strategies in the classroom.
- Monitor and document student progress; adjust therapy goals and approaches as needed.
- Educate school staff and families on techniques and accommodations to support students participation and independence.
- Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team discussions, and school-based initiatives.
Skills:
- Current license to practice Occupational Therapy in [Insert State] and certification from NBCOT.
- Experience in pediatric or school-based occupational therapy is strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of IDEA, IEP process, and educationally relevant therapy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, parents, and school staff.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
