Join the City of South Jordan as a Special Event Coordinator!
Bring your passion for community to life in South Jordan! As a Special Event Coordinator, you'll play a key role in helping to create meaningful experiences that bring neighbors together and enhance quality of life. Working within our Community Services Programs team, you'll help plan and deliver beloved city events that foster connection, celebrate culture, and strengthen civic pride.
What You'll Do:
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing citywide events such as Summerfest, Movies in the Moonlight, and seasonal celebrations
- Manage assigned event logistics including budgeting, scheduling, vendors, and volunteers
- Serve as on-site point of contact during assigned events, overseeing specific areas or functions as well as supporting set up and take down of events
- Collaborate with City departments and community partners to ensure safe, successful events
- Coordinate entertainment, technical needs, permits, and event site layouts
- Support marketing, registration, and evaluation of programs
- Build strong relationships with community members to encourage participation
- Assist in maintaining organized files such as event plans, budgets, post event reports, ect.
Who You Are:
- Bachelor's degree in event planning, recreation management, communications, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- At least one year of relevant event coordination experience
- Skilled in organization, communication, and working with diverse groups
- Able and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Able to lift and carry event supplies and equipment
- Able to manage multiple priorities and solve problems creatively
- Able to work in a team environment
- Valid Utah Driver License required
