About the Role

Performs technical work assisting an anesthesia care provider with equipment, supplies, drugs, and special procedures utilized in the course of the anesthesia care provider’s medical practice.


POSITION’S ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with invasive hemodynamic and intracranial pressure monitoring of patients; sets up arterial and catheter lines and other monitoring devices and records findings.
  • Performs basic trouble shooting for equipment such as monitors, pulse oximeter, and capnographs and repairs equipment or requests mechanical assistance.
  • Report equipment malfunctions immediately.
  • Sets up all equipment for induction of anesthesia in the operating room and other anesthetizing locations, with appropriate equipment for age and procedure scheduled.
  • Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Cooperates with other personnel to achieve departmental and interdepartmental objectives and maintain good employee relations.
  • Stocks and maintains specialized carts per established specifications. Maintains inventory of all anesthesia supplies and ensures proper care and storage of equipment.
  • Clean, disinfect and sterilize reusable equipment and continuously maintains safety and proper working conditions.
  • Transport patients and laboratory samples to ensure the preoperative unit’s daily activities proceed smoothly and in an orderly manner.
  • All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduation from high school or possession of a GED Certificate.
  • Requires two-years of experience assisting in patient care with a focus in the area of preoperative services.
  • Anesthesia Tech certification preferred.
  • Current and active CPR certification
