Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Contract Pharmacist Inpatient Role with Occasional Retail Support
Location: Shenandoah, IA
Contract Length: 13+ Weeks (Maternity Leave Coverage)
Start Date: Mid-October (Training Included)
License: Active or Temporary IA Pharmacist License Accepted
Status: Open to Local and Travel Pharmacists

A respected hospital in Shenandoah is looking for a pharmacist to step into an essential inpatient position for maternity leave coverage. What You'll Do:

Verify compounded medications (including chemotherapy) prepared by technicians
Approve physician orders through the facilitys EHR system
Review technician-completed Pyxis medication fills
Join morning pharmacy team huddles and interdisciplinary rounds
Handle compliance audits and reporting tasks
Assist with the anticoagulation clinic as needed
Occasionally work retail pharmacy shifts, including evenings and weekends on rotation

Schedule Overview:

Inpatient Pharmacy Hours (Weekdays):

Option 1: 7:30 AM 3:30 PM
Option 2: 8:30 AM 4:30 PM

Retail Pharmacy Coverage (Occasional):

Weekdays: 8:00 AM 7:00 PM
Weekends: 9:30 AM 1:30 PM
One evening shift per week (4:007:00 PM), following inpatient duties
One weekend per month in retail, if needed

Requirements:

Active Iowa Pharmacist license, or eligibility for temporary licensure
Familiarity with chemotherapy compounding (direct mixing experience preferred)
Strong clinical judgment and attention to detail
Flexible and willing to support both inpatient and retail environments
Open to new graduates with proper licensing
