Location: 540 Lycoming St, Williamsport, PA 17701
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (Full-Time)
Role Type: Investigative / Assessment (Non-Treatment Based)
Setting: Outpatient Clinic (Optum Serve Veteran Services)

Position Overview
As a Nurse Practitioner in this role, you will perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) examinations for Veterans and separating military members. This is a non-treatment, evaluation-based position where you act as a medical expert to support disability claims.
There is no prescribing, treatment, or follow-up care required. Instead, you will conduct thorough physical evaluations and detailed medical record reviews to provide objective medical opinions.
Key Responsibilities
Comprehensive Evaluations
- Perform Disability Benefit Questionnaires (DBQs)
- Conduct Separation Health Assessments (SHA)
Medical Record Review
- Analyze Veteran medical histories
- Prepare focused summaries relevant to each claim
Physical Assessments
- Conduct condition-specific and comprehensive exams
Medical Opinions
- Diagnose conditions
- Provide evidence-based medical opinions (nexus letters)
Diagnostics
- Order and interpret labs, X-rays, and other necessary tests
Timely Documentation
- Submit all exam findings within 24 hours via the online portal
Clinical Workflow
- Patient Load: 1-3 Veterans per day
- Exam Duration: Typically 1.5 to 3 hours per exam
- Collaboration: Work alongside a local team and Market Manager
Qualifications & Requirements
Licensure
- Active, unrestricted Texas Nurse Practitioner license
Experience
- Preferred: Primary care, occupational health, or disability evaluations
- Not required
Skills
- Strong physical assessment abilities
- Ability to interpret complex medical histories
- Clear and concise clinical documentation
Technical
- Comfortable using cloud-based EHR systems and portals
