The Role
The position of Senior Accountant Fund Accounting is responsible for providing basic full-cycle accounting support to the Fund Accounting line of the business servicing private equity, hedge, real estate, and venture capital funds and investors. Position may be assigned large or more complex accounts and will also work with auditors as required.
Duties
- Maintains general ledgers.
- Calculates periodic fund net asset value performance returns.
- Delivers monthly financial packages to fund managers.
- Performs period end
closes along with completing special reporting specific to each fund.
- Distributes capital statements to each investor.
- Reviews new investor subscription packets, performs due diligence, and runs background checks on new investors for compliance with AML policies and regulations.
- Provides daily operational support for funds, including banking services, generating wire transfers, bank account transfers, and account set up.
- Prepares financial statements, footnotes, and audit support files.
- Works closely with auditors in conjunction with fund audits.
- Maintains and updates investor records.
- Assists clients with online portal access and questions.
- Completes other duties, as assigned by management and/or the Senior Manager, Fund Accounting.
Skills and Knowledge
- Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or other related discipline required,
a masters degree is preferred.
- CPA license is preferred.
- 3 5 years related experience fund accounting experience preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Must have intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills, comfortable with simple and moderately complex Excel formulas and tools.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of QuickBooks or comparable accounting packages, and Advent Geneva or other fund accounting software experience is a plus.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize, and effectively manage client workload.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of professionals (colleagues, fund managers, investors) verbally and in writing.
- Ability to analyze financial statements and understand performance trends.
