We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced manufacturing Plant Maintenance Engineer to join Phlow’s maintenance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for keeping all process and support equipment systems in good operating condition. Candidate will handle maintenance routine adherence, troubleshooting failures, ensuring equipment uptime, supporting technicians, root cause investigations, and more across mechanical and electrical systems. This role requires a deep commitment to working with a strong safety and quality mindset and experience with pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, equipment, and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) regulations (or similar).
Requirements:
- Safety: Follow and enforce all safety protocols, including all site job permitting to make sure self, coworkers, and contractors are working safely and according to site policy.
- Preventive Maintenance: Create and oversee scheduled preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment, including machines such as: reactors, dryers, vacuum systems, boilers, chillers, air handlers, generators, pumps, and more.
- Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment issues with production and facility equipment. This includes identifying the root cause of failures and implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime. Source parts and vendors when needed to get the resources needed to accomplish work. Comfortability with completing minor repairs and other hands on work.
- Equipment Installation: Assist in the installation, commissioning, and calibration of new equipment and machinery. Ensure that all installations comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repair logs, parts inventory, change controls, and deviations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as production, quality assurance, and engineering, to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize disruption to production schedules.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend enhancements to equipment and maintenance procedures to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve safety.
- Contractor Oversite: source and coordinate contractors when needed to execute work on equipment when the scope exceeds that which the internal team can accomplish.
Experience & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience working in the manufacturing industry in an engineering type role. Strongly encouraged to have previous background in a pharmaceutical manufacturing or similar regulated industry.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in required fields like Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Systems, Chemical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
Skills
- Strong technical aptitude with experience in troubleshooting and repairing complex systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Knowledge of GMP, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements in a pharmaceutical environment.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Knowledge and application of lean manufacturing and data analysis
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Able to lead trainings to operators and technicians
- Experience in creating Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, Troubleshooting Guides,
- Understanding of engineering concepts such as fluid mechanics, thermal mechanics, pressurized systems, vacuum systems, material compatibilities
- Familiar with hand and power tool usage to complete work as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and confined spaces.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call as needed.
