Position Summary

Provide on-site construction management and direct oversight of the safe, cost effective, day to day construction activities for the construction and installation of additional capital assets.

Position will be responsible for following Fleet-wide construction standards and processes for capital projects within Energy Supply, the coordination and schedule of all site construction activities from mobilization to closeout including but not limited to: participation in design reviews to assist with constructability, site layout, material deliveries and storage, various inspections, detailed record keeping, permit compliance, review of contractor work/execution plans, review of critical lift plans, contractor oversight, site security, safety leadership, quality control documentation, Lockout Tagout procedures, and commissioning oversight of various units/systems.

Operational Effectiveness: Knowledge and understanding of all phases of site construction, ensure that construction activities are completed on time, within budget, and according to the specifications/scope of work.

Monitor day to day activities and ensure short- and long-term goals are being met.

Daily record keeping of activities along with weekly Project reporting to the Project Manager.

Tracking and reporting of delays, extra work or potential extra work performed by contractors.

Coordination of construction activities with between multiple contractors.

Safety: Monitor and champion construction safety.

Provide visible safety leadership through your actions and performance.

Participate in worksite audits, safety observations, safety investigations and reporting of incidents and near misses, and accidents/injuries/issues.

Monitor the implantation of disciplinary measure and/or removal of workers for safety violations per established rules and requirements, monitor compliance with OSHA regulations and perform and report safety observations on all contractors performing work on Projects.

Business Optimization and Strategy: Provide input into the labor resource strategy for the project.

Assist with in-depth project constructability assessments and reviews.

Provide support to team members to execute and/or track critical project aspects including schedule, safety, permit compliance, drawing review, execution plan review, commissioning activities, and cost tracking.

Relationship Management: Work hand-in-hand with the Project Manager.

Establish an effective relationship with all stakeholders based on teamwork and open honest communication.

Provide construction consult to project managers and leads, other team members, and assist with mentoring and construction knowledge transfer to other members of the team.

Regulatory and Compliance: Ensure adequate inspection and/or monitoring of all work to establish compliance with requirements, and to maintain appropriate records in the project files.

Participate in construction inspections and quality related site activities.

Establish, monitor, and track processes to ensure regulatory compliance.

Ability to work with internal & external locate firms to locate underground gas and electric facilities using various types of information including maps, construction prints and as-built drawings to determine approximate locations of the facilities.

Utilize various types of electronic locating equipment.

Assists in the management of all phases of construction, material deliveries and contractors doing business on property from start-up to project closeout.

Works as a team member to construct major equipment (Combustion Turbines, Generators, and associated equipment) in accordance with construction documents. Assists senior technicians, engineers and designers in the project design, material specifications and procurement.

Works closely with department personnel and provides support to complete project schedules within assigned area of responsibility.
Qualifications:

Previous experience with the installation and commissioning activities relating to Combustion Turbines & Generators, and Balance of Plant systems is preferred.

Technical Certification Bonus: Synectics is pleased to award its employees a bonus of up to $500 for an approved professional certification. In determining the bonus amount, Synectics will consider the cost of the test(s) for any certification relating to your current position, achieved during your employment with us. Only one Certification Bonus per calendar year may be awarded per employee. Only current, active employees will be eligible to receive this bonus. It will be awarded 90 days after the Synectics office has received documentation confirming the successful completion of the certification.
