Job Description

Job Description

Ashokan is seeking senior plumbers with at least five years of experience to install 1–6” water meters and backflow devices. At Ashokan Water Meter & Backflow, you’re protecting New York City’s drinking water. We’re a family business with over 30 years in the field, and growing fast. There’s real room to move up, real support, and none of the 24/7 emergency-call lifestyle most plumbers are stuck with. We care about our staff — enough that every year we take the entire office and plumbing team on a canoe trip, because water isn’t just the job here... it’s the culture.

If you want stable hours, good people, and a chance to make a real impact on the city, we’d love to meet you.

We are seeking a plumber with over 5 years of experience to service the NYC Metro Area for both commercial and residential properties. Must work well independently and in a team environment.

THIS IS A FULL TIME POSITION. BENEFITS PACKAGE AVAILABLE AFTER 90 DAYS PROBATION PERIOD.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to read blueprints, schematics and technical drawings
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions
  • High School Diploma and/or Vocational School Certification
  • Demonstrate accurate knowledge of plumbing systems, fixtures, and machinery
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Familiar with DEP plumbing codes, regulations and safety practices
  • Familiarity with DEP CCCU regulations for backflow installation, troubleshooting, testing, cleaning and repair for both meter and backflow devices up to 6”.
  • Experience with Fiberglass Insulation
  • Experience with Booster Pump Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  • Experience with Water Supply, Waste Systems and Drain Work
  • Must be physically able to lift over 70 lbs, work in confined spaces and outdoors in all weather conditions, and climb ladders.

Hot Work

  • Measure, cut, groove, thread, solder and connect black iron, copper, and steel pipe
  • Ensure compliance with FDNY safety standards for torch operations

Qualifications:

  • Valid NYS Driver’s License with Clean Record
  • OSHA 30 + SST 10 Hours
  • Certificate of Fitness for Torch Use of Flammable Gases (G-60)
  • Certificate of Fitness for Fire Guard For Torch Operations (F-60)
  • NYC DEP Certification for Backflow Prevention Testing (Optional)
  • Must be available to participate and respond to emergency call-ins

We interview in person in Brooklyn.

Expected Hours: Minimum 37.5 per week

Work Location: In Person

Benefits:

  • 401(k)
  • Dental insurance
