- Law enforcement activities:
- Patrol assigned areas, respond to dispatches, enforce traffic laws, issue citations, make arrests, serve warrants/subpoenas
- Investigate crimes, accidents, property damage, complaints, and suspicious activity
- Conduct interrogations, impound evidence, prepare reports, and transport prisoners
- Emergency response:
- Act as first responder to fires, medical calls, and public emergencies
- Control traffic during emergencies and request medical aid when necessary
- Community & support roles:
- Provide directions, information, and public assistance
- Assist fire and other departments; support other agencies as required
- Enforce animal control ordinances and assist with crime prevention programs
- Operational duties:
- Check, service, and clean patrol car
- Participate in training, special assignments, and specific focus areas (traffic, investigations, etc.)
- May lead reserve officers
Public Relations
- Engage in community education and awareness programs
- Maintain a professional appearance and follow grooming standards
- Contribute to special projects assigned by leadership
Communication Skills
- Must communicate tactfully and sensitively
- Remain apolitical while on duty or representing the department
- Speak clearly and write legibly
Colorado Basic Peace Officer's Certification required. May consider POST certifications from other states.
$55,000 - $60,000 annually Non-exempt/salary
