Reports To: Project Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Building Automation Electrician to install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems that support building automation systems (BAS). This includes working with HVAC controls, lighting systems, energy management systems, and integrating smart technologies into commercial, industrial, or institutional buildings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, control systems, and devices related to building automation systems.
  • Interpret BAS control schematics, blueprints, and technical documents to determine project scope and installation methods.
  • Configure and wire DDC controllers, sensors, actuators, and other BAS components.
  • Coordinate with other trades (HVAC, plumbing, IT) to ensure seamless integration of building systems.
  • Test and commission automation systems to ensure proper functionality and performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in electrical and automation systems, including low-voltage control wiring.
  • Maintain documentation of system configurations, wiring diagrams, and maintenance logs.
  • Ensure all work complies with local, state, and national electrical codes and safety regulations.
  • Participate in system upgrades, retrofits, and new technology deployments.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in electrical work, with at least 1–2 years in BAS or control systems.
  • Strong knowledge of low-voltage wiring, control circuits, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) or DDC systems (e.g., Distech, Honeywell, Siemens, Johnson Controls, Trane, Schneider Electric).
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Familiarity with building automation software and networking basics is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined or elevated spaces.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions (indoor/outdoor, temperature variations).
