PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Education Navigator supports Covenant House Florida youth by assessing individual educational needs, developing personalized academic pathways, and providing ongoing guidance throughout their educational pursuits. This role facilitates access to and navigation of education program components while connecting youth to community-based education resources, support, and opportunities that promote academic success and long-term stability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Covenant House Florida reserves the right to unilaterally modify, remove, or add to any of the following:
- Conduct Independent Living Program orientations with youth, collaborating to develop individualized education plans that align with youth’s goals and needs.
- Guide youth through academic pathways, including GED preparation, high school completion options, vocational training programs, and college exploration.
- Assist with financial aid processes, including completion of FAFSA and scholarship applications.
- Identify and help remove barriers to educational engagement by connecting youth to community-based resources, support, and accommodations.
- Monitor academic and overall progress through consistent engagement, documentation, and collaboration with educational partners and CHF programs.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of education plans, progress notes, referrals, and outcomes in accordance with agency standards.
- Apply trauma-informed, youth centered approaches to educational planning and problem solving while fostering a strengths-based environment that empowers youth to achieve their goals.
- Facilitate Independent Living Classes and Life Skill workshops as scheduled.
- Oversee the distribution of education materials including electronic devices.
- Safely operate company vehicles to transport youth to activities, school, and other appointments as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION
Bachelor’ in Human Services, Education, Social Work or related field preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Two to three years of progressive experience working within the education field. Knowledge of GED requirements, instructional materials, and testing procedures. General understanding of key academic processes including course scheduling, student records management, and financial aid assistance.
SCHEDULE
This position requires flexibility to meet the needs of the youth served. Availability is required for weekdays two shifts from 10am to 4pm and two shifts from 3pm to 9pm. Weekend availability may be required based on program and youth needs.

Demonstrated understanding of sensitivity to culturally diverse populations.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with youth and community partners.
Strong digital literacy, including the ability to learn and effectively utilize new systems and technology.
Flexibility in work schedule to meet the needs of the clients served.
Demonstrated resourcefulness and initiative in problem-solving, connecting youth to opportunities, and adapting support strategies to meet individual needs.
TRANSPORTATION
Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License and vehicle insurance with an acceptable driving record. This position requires the incumbent to travel occasionally to donor meetings, training and community events/meetings.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work occasionally in outside-weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. Ability to work standing, walking, and/or sitting a minimum of 8 hours per day/shift. Some weekend/holiday work may be required. Ability to drive agency or personal vehicles to transport items and/or persons. Ability to travel as needed for training, donor meetings or to fulfill job requirements.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES
There are no supervisory responsibilities with this position.
EQUIPMENT USED
Must have knowledge in usage of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, to include but not limited to FAFSA applications, GED test scheduling, and school applications.
